Introduction of two different perspectives

I will tell you two different perspectives toward this issue.

One is from the view of Barack Obama, The U.S. President. This is written and created based on the facts that he and the U.S. government do. This is like his speaking, but it's not. There are some quoted parts on this writing. These facts are on the Internet sites below.

Hello, I am Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States of America.
Bullying is a problem not only in Japan, but across the world. Of course, it is in my country, the United States. To be honest, I was bullied when I was small. I've been working so hard on this issue to stop and prevent bullying as the President, and also as a father of two of my daughter. Thankfully, my wife Michelle cooperate greatly. I stress that we should not approach bullying as business as usual. Because it's something that happens a lot around us, we sometimes tend to turn a blind eye to the problem. In 2010, we held the first-ever White House Conference on Bullying Prevention. We invited students, teachers, advocates, and experts. At that time, I said "If there's one goal of this conference, it's to dispel the myth that bullying is just a harmless rite of passage or an inevitable part of growing up. It's not."  Schools have not just a moral responsibility, but a legal responsibility, to protect our young people from bullying. We all have a clear belief that we have to make our schools a safe place and have to take action to ensure that all students are safe and healthy and can learn in environments free from discrimination and bullying. "I believe that day by day, step by step, we will change not just laws and policies, but behavior, so that every young person is able to thrive in our schools and communities, without worrying about being bullied."
Can we stop and prevent bullying?
Of course, Yes We Can!

The other one is from a teacher who teaches at a elementary school. This is fictional.

Hello everyone. I am a man who teaches at an elementary school in Tokyo. In the last few decades, especially in the last few years, the problem of bullying in schools has become more serious than ever before. Bord of Education has taken actions to prevent and eliminate bullying in schools and we teachers, of course, try our best to accomplish it. However, in my opinion, I don't think we can eliminate bullying in schools completely though this should not be the idea of teacher. Bullying is not always happens in schools. It happens after school or online, for example. We teachers are told to be careful of the atmosphere in the classroom and I really care about that. But there is a limit to what we can do. It's not easy to see what is going on in the classroom in every corner. I sometimes have a talk with my students alone.  I want to know how their school life is going and whether there is something wrong with them or not. But they are likely to be ashamed and hesitate to tell me the truth especially when it comes to things like "bullying". That's why it's hard to find and nip them in the bud. I also don't like the way schools play. Sometimes, schools tend to hide the fact that bullying is happening when the problem is getting bigger. As long as these tendencies remain, bullying will not disappear in schools.

  1. My classmates gave me comments on the Obama's perspective I wrote on here, so let me introduce some of them. Many of them got to know for the first time that Obama was bullied when he was small. They were also impressed that Obama is taking this issue seriously and making actions because he has a great impact as the President of United States.

  2. I also got comments on an elementary school teacher's perspective. Many of my classmates agreed with the idea and they thought this was a realistic perspective. A student said that there always was a gap among students in their characters or personalities when many students gathered in a school. So it's difficult to eliminate bullying in school completely.

  3. It was a good idea to present Obama's opinions about, and advocacy against, bullying. This was very timely since Obama spoke out about it just recently.

You summarized the feedback of your classmates well.
    Cheers,
    Joseph D.
