Podcast about bullying
Hello, everyone!
Today I'll talk about the Podcast I found.
I found the Podcast named "how to stop bullying." Although I'm not good at listening English, this Podcast was so easy to understand. The woman speaker and best selling author, Lauren Mackler talk about the difference between conflict and bullying, and the best way to stop bullying, and so on. They said that parents and even teachers don't know how to handle this serious problem. There some schools around the world where teachers don't try to realise the bullying though some children ask them for help. Some teachers said to their children, "it's a joke, and not a bullying."
Verbal abuse is thought to be one of the main cause of bullying. A lot of people don't realise that by saying to somebody stupid thing, they hurt the other person's humanity and dignity.
One comment, which doesn't have to be physical, or one cutting remark to the children is enough to stop bullying.
We have to challenge!!

A Podcast I Found
I found a podcast "Teen Talk Radio" and one of the episodes talks about our controversial issue, bullying. This podcast is hosted by Nicole O'Dell, author and youth-culture expert, and discusses a variety of controversial issues sharing ideas with teens or other listeners. I'm ashamed but I've not heard of her name nor this podcast. What I thought good about it, as it is in the title, is that teens talk about the issue. I can often find articles and websites about bullying written by some adults or experts, but it is teens that are involved in this issue directly. I need to know how teens are feeling. This podcast takes about an hour and it's a bit long, but I think it is a very good one.

an example of reductio ad absurdum
Hello, everyone. Kensuke and I will talk about "reductio ad absurdum" in the next class.
Here is the definition of that.
To make one's opinion clear, proving that the opposite one is not true by showing that its result is not logical or sensible.
Now I'd like to talk about an example of this that relates our controversial issue "Bullying (in schools)."
Suppose stopping bullying is NOT possible. If it were, Japanese education system will ruin. Victims of bully feel fearful to go to school because they get bullied if they go to school. As a result of that, the number of children who go to school decrease. Then, children who bullied their friends will bully their teachers instead of their friends. As a result, children who have power not only physically, but mentally will control and run a school. This idea is so ridiculous. Therefore, stopping bullying is possible.

an example of "appeal to tradition"
Hello, everyone! In our last class, Kyosuke and I researched the term "appeal to tradition" related to critical thinking.
An appeal to tradition means an attempt to think something that happens now is true and acceptable because it has been so for generations, though it is not clear whether it will be in the tradition in the future or not.
Here is an example related to bullying.
For years, it has been concerned that bullied kids should become mentally stronger through enduring or overcoming bullying by their own. This traditional way of thinking still remains. That's why it sometimes happens that teaches or parents don't take the bullying problems so seriously, don't let the kids having opportunities to talk to them, leave the matter as it is and make kids solve it by themselves.
In the end, people don't notice that the cognition towards bullying and the ways to solve it should be changed. They don't recognize it sure is different from the past. Then, something irrecoverable happens, such as suicide.
